Daily Trivia for Model Y HW4:

Did you know, compare to

Model 3 Highland which only have 1x car socket, 3 USB-C charging only port, 1 USB-A data port;

Model Y HW4 have 2x car socket, 4 USB-C charging only port, 1 USB-A data port in the car.

Here is the fun fact about those port:

Tesla have remove the ability on the USB-C port to data transfer and there is no longer a way to install a USB data module like HW3 Model 3/Y.

The HW4 Model Y USB-C port can supply around 30W on USB-C port where the HW4 Model 3H can supply 42-65W(combined) power on the USB-C port.

The only one data communicate with the infotainment system/dashcam recording is now in the glovebox USB-A port, and usually it is plugged in with the 128GB Tesla usb drive. You can add a USB-3 hub(Don’t buy the USB2 one) if you intend to connect more stuff like game controller etc.

HW4 Model 3H and Model Y is all now equipped with the smaller but better 16V lithium Low voltage battery. This mean that the round car socket is now output 15.5-16V voltage rather than the 12V voltage like standard ICE car. When your car is turn ON, the 16V will be constantly charged from the HV battery so you can safely draw power from there.

So, how much power can the car socket provide? 200 watt power :D (16V*12A)
