Jin Daily Trivia: Did you know Meta’s Head of AI is stepping down?

Joelle Pineau, Meta’s Vice President of AI Research, is leaving at the end of May after eight years with the company. Her announcement comes just before the debut of Meta’s new LlamaCon AI conference on April 29.

I guess LLaMA-4’s performance might not be that promising internally—we might even see DeepSeek-R2 and Qwen3 released before it.

Things change so fast in the AI world. Just last year, almost all AI company was deploying open-source LLaMA-3 locally. But after Qwen2.5-QwQ and DeepSeek-V3 came out, everyone kinda ditched Meta’s LLaMA due to its poor cost-performance ratio (it’s even more expensive than OpenAI’s API!).
