io — the company founded by former Apple designer Jony Ive — has been building an AI device for OpenAI, and now, it’s officially been acquired by OpenAI itself.

The io team, focused on developing products that inspire, empower, and enable, will now merge with OpenAI to work more closely with the research, engineering, and product teams in San Francisco.”

I just hope Jony changes the AI company icon — right now all of them kinda looks like a… butt hole.

Also, OpenAI (OI) x io (all lowercase)? It’s getting harder to Google this stuff. Why do AI companies keep giving themselves such weird, unsearchable names?
