The newly released GPT-5 (now even available on the free tier) is definitely a big step up from the previous ChatGPT-o4 series.

But is it better than the big competitors like Opus 4.1 or Gemini 2.5 Pro?

Don’t cares. What matters is that GPT-5 is dirt cheap and blazing fast.

The last time someone slashed prices this hard (Deepseek), it shook the entire AI industry — and we saw AI usage skyrocket in everyday life.

I believe GPT-5 has done its job well this time.
