Perplexity recently launched an AI-powered patent search tool designed to simplify the patent discovery process. Unlike traditional keyword-based search engines, users can now ask natural language questions directly — and the system will find relevant patents instantly.

This is way better than Google Patent Search, which often returns tons of irrelevant results and struggles to drill down or filter effectively.

The tool also supports extended keyword searches and recognizes related terminology. For instance, searching for “fitness tracker” will also surface patents related to “sports wristbands,” “pedometer” and “health monitoring wearables.”

On top of that, it can even search academic papers and open-source code repositories to help identify prior art — making it a serious research upgrade for inventors and tech geeks alike.
