Right before Qualcomm completes its acquisition of Arduino, the company quietly updated the Terms of Service for Arduino Cloud — allowing it to claim rights over code uploaded to the platform.

So, is Arduino “dead”?

Not physically. But the era of Arduino as a community-driven, open-source underdog may have officially come to an end. We’re entering a new chapter — one shaped by enterprise ambitions, cloud ecosystems, and corporate governance.

But the spirit of making was never tied to a single blue board. It lives on through Espressif ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico, Nordic, and whatever comes next.

The real question is: Do you still trust Arduino’s new direction? Or is it time to rethink where you build your prototyping future?

As for me, my Arduino ship sailed back when the Genuino split happened. Nordic and Espressif offer stronger connectivity, lower cost, and better scalability. And Pi Pico? Ridiculously capable for the price.
