Daily Trivia - James Dyson & The stuff he design

I always call Dyson Vacuum cleaner the supercar of vacuum cleaners, the design is bold and it functions super well and most importantly, it sets the ceiling price for household appliances.

Did you know that James Dyson, who is now 75 years old, has other great ideas before he started his Dyson Empire?

When he was 23 years old, he designed the Rotork Sea Truck, it was a hit with the military and oil rig contruction industry due to the ease to load/unload from the boat itself onshore.

When he bought a house and started renovating, he noticed the wheel barrel that workers used was always stuck in muddy road. So he designed the Ballbarrow, which increases contact area so it is less likely to be stuck in mud.

When he tried to create the bagless vacuum cleaner, he faced many resistance from the production factory. To them, selling spare vacuum bags were a lucrative business. Dyson finally found his first success in Japan. Apex G-Force was designed in Pink and sold around 2000 USD for high end market in Japan back in 1989, which is around 6000 USD now.

Only until 1993, when he was 46 years old, he finally created the Dyson DC01 vacuum and the rest is history.

One last trivia:

James Dyson closed all his UK factories and relocated all the manufacturing to Malaysia since 2007? Most Dyson product is assembled in Johor Bahru while the plastic injection part is from Kajang/Shah alam.
