20 years ago, free email service was usually in the range of single digit megabyte (Hotmail 2MB / Yahoo Mail 4MB). And even PAID email service was also in range of Megabyte.

And out of nowhere, Google launch GMail on April 1, 2004. With a whooping 1GB storage.

And by invitation only. Active blogger was the first (the KOL of those day) who get access to this email service and the invitation link was even sold on ebay for real money.

Now, Google offer 15GB Free Email service and pretty much change the world how we use email (over the browser).

PS: GMail project was known by the code name Caribou, a reference to a Dilbert comic strip about Project Caribou.
