Jin Daily Tech Trivia: China Bans All Non-CCC Certified Powerbanks Inflight
Following the Romoss powerbank incident and the mass recall of several powerbank brands, the Chinese government has tightened its inflight regulations even further.
They’ve now banned all powerbanks that don’t have the CCC logo (China Compulsory Certificate) printed directly on the device. Since CCC is a China-only certification, this effectively bans most powerbanks purchased overseas. Powerbanks listed in the official recall list are also prohibited.
Passengers are being told to dispose of non-compliant powerbanks before boarding. We’ve already seen cases of foreign tourists being stopped at the gate and forced to throw away perfectly good powerbanks simply because they lacked the CCC logo.
And of course, in true “China efficiency” fashion, fake CCC stickers are already being sold online as people try to bypass the ban.
Hope you learned something new today—see ya!!
