Jin Daily AI Trivia: The Black Market of GPUs in China

As someone who brought a few 22GB 2080 Ti cards from China and even recycled Tesla V100s to build my own low-cost GPU farm, I’ve always been fascinated by how the black-market GPU economy really works in China.

GamerNexus — better known as “Tech Jesus” on YouTube — recently spent four months in Hong Kong and Shenzhen’s HQB, documenting the behind-the-scenes world of small GPU factories and the intricate supply chain that keeps them running.

It’s interesting to see how Western media covers something that’s so familiar to those of us who’ve already navigated HQB’s recycled and refurbished hardware supply chain. For most people, this will be a shocking exposé. But if you’ve dealt with China’s refurb network before (like me… or my uncle’s counters in HQB 😏), you’ll know it’s just another day in the market.

Can’t wait for the full documentary to drop tomorrow night. You’ll find the YouTube link in the comments below.

Thanks for reading — hope you learned something new today! See ya!
