It’s called Surya, and it can forecast solar flares up to 2 hours in advance — just like how Earth’s weather models predict rain a few hours ahead.

Why does this matter? Because “space weather” (heliophysics in fancy terms) can disrupt satellites, power grids, and communication systems. With Surya, scientists can give early warnings to satellite operators and better predict how the Sun’s ultraviolet blasts affect Earth’s upper atmosphere.
