Daily Jin Tech Trivia: ASUS CISO Says 15-Digit Passwords Can Wear Hackers Out
To embed security deep into its corporate DNA, ASUS has adopted a range of strategies — and one of the most surprising is its mandatory use of 15-character high-strength passwords.
ASUS Chief Information Security Officer Jin Qingbai explained that extending passwords from 4 to 15 digits can make them virtually uncrackable — taking hundreds of years for hackers to break with current technology.
“Even if you write your password on a sticky note under your monitor — which we don’t recommend — it’s still far safer than a 4-digit one,” Jin said with a smile. “After all, there are far fewer people who can physically break into your office than those who can hack you online.”
