Jin Daily AI Trivia: China finally has its own coding model CLI — and it’s built with Rust + Python!

With the rise of tools like Claude Code CLI and the open-source Gemini CLI, more AI companies are revisiting the good old command-line interface — a classic yet powerful and flexible way to interact with AI models.

However, many of these CLIs are just forks of existing open-source projects. For example, Qwen-Coder is essentially an older Gemini fork that hasn’t seen much update lately. Most of them run on TypeScript engines and are starting to feel… well, the same.

But today, Moonshot AI launched their new Kimi CLI, and to my surprise — it’s written in Python! Finally, a company doing something genuinely refreshing from the ground up.
