Jin Daily Tech Trivia – Sony “spins off” Bravia to TCL

Sony just signed a memo to dump its entire TV and home entertainment hardware business into a new joint venture where TCL holds 51% and Sony just 49%. ​ In practice, that means the legendary Bravia hardware stack is now effectively under Chinese control, while Sony mostly brings the brand and ecosystem sauce to the party.

But fear not, Sony PlayStation wasn’t part of the deal, that belong to another Sony’s arm. This only affect the Bravia’s brand TV and home audio system.
