Jin Daily Tech Trivia – XPeng’s Robot Was So Human, People Thought It Was Fake

November 5, Guangzhou – XPeng’s 2025 AI Day wasn’t your typical car launch; it felt more like a Physical AI variety show for the next-gen geek crowd.

XPeng’s new humanoid robot, IRON, strutted down the runway so naturally that people swore it had to be a human in disguise. Then XPeng’s CEO, He Xiaopeng (yes, the company is literally his name), went full showman — slicing off IRON’s outer shell live on stage to reveal nothing but joints and wires underneath.

IRON’s specs: 178 cm tall, 70 kg, 62 joints, bionic muscles, a curved OLED head, a solid-state battery, and a 2026 mass-production target. She even comes with “active privacy” features — so you don’t end up being spied on by your own robot.

China’s take on ‘real’ AI: The showmanship is flashy, but the ambition is real. The real question — is IRON proof that China’s robotics scene is ready to go mainstream, or will 1X Technologies’ Neo from the U.S. steal the spotlight?
